Why Supplements?
(Vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, and phytochemicals)
“I already eat well; why supplements?”
(GIVE ANALOGIES/STORIES = POWERFUL because they stick!)
I) 100 YEARS OLD:
I know you can become 100 years old by eating pretty healthy without taking supplements.
I compare myself to a plant:
Give a plant adequate amounts of sunlight and water, and it will survive. Add some nutrient-rich fertilizer (organic, of course), and the plant will thrive. In many ways, supplements are to humans what fertilizer is to plants. I want to go through life maximizing my health, not just getting by and surviving, but thriving. I like to optimize my health, and that’s why I take supplements. Does that make sense?
II) BLOOD TEST:
When you get your blood tested, and the doctor tells you, “You’re fine”, what does that mean?
If you would ask him that your answer will be, “You’re in the range.”
But what does that mean? What is that range based on?
Well, it tells us that if you are below that range, you will get sick.
So, what does it tell you when your doctor says, “You’re fine”?
It tells you that the nutrient value of your blood is high enough, so you won’t get sick. But is that your goal?
If the doctor was not a medical doctor but a financial planner with the same attitude, then “You’re fine,” only means you’re not in debt.
If I were you, I would run away from that financial planner!
I don’t want just to survive. I want to thrive!
It’s not enough not to be in debt. I need savings, lots of it, and even more investments! That’s the only way I thrive financially.
That’s my attitude with health too: I don’t want just merely to survive, I want to thrive!
And that’s how I see what great nutritional supplements do to my health!
III) PREVENTION VS IMMEDIATE DRUGS?
Initially, the body hints of a nutrient shortfall with any of a hodgepodge of minor symptoms: fatigue, weakness, insomnia, irritability, nervousness, depression, poor concentration, memory loss, aches and pains, recurrent infections, allergies, circulatory problems, and just not feeling good.
If doctors do prescribe treatment, they usually bypass nutritional supplements in favor of drugs such as anti-inflammatories, antidepressants, tranquilizers, and the like. These not only mask symptoms but also deplete nutrient stores even further. This accelerates the degenerative process, which is the forerunner of disease and aging.
IV) HIGH CONCENTRATION:
When people see me taking a handful of supplements, they think of medication. No wonder they look at me like I’m a nut…. (although this thinking has drastically changed during the last twenty years)
I explain to them that each pill is nothing more than a high concentration of vegetables, fruits, minerals, or phytonutrients.
To give my cells the maximum amount of nutrients, I have to eat eight plates of vegetables and fruits. It’s impossible. But I can get there with supplements.
V) FILLING THE NUTRITIONAL GAP:
Most of us fail to meet dietary recommendations due to dieting, poor appetite, or overconsumption-undernutrition.
VI) NUTRIENT ABSORPTION DECLINES WITH AGE:
As you age, your body doesn’t have the same capability to break down and absorb nutrients as it used to. The production of digestive enzymes, which break down and absorb nutrients from your food, naturally begins to decline the older you get. You may also be taking more medications than you did when you were younger. Most drugs actually deplete essential nutrients. Supplements can help restore this imbalance.
VII) SOIL DEPLETION:
Modern farming techniques use fertilizers that deplete the soil and rob the plants of essential nutrients. Fertile soil is a crucial agricultural element for absorbing the proper amounts of minerals. Without this, the plant cannot form crucial vitamins.
We also try to get multiple crops per year (while it would typically give us one or two crops per year, we try to do more), depleting the soil.
We haven’t talked about the solution of our soil by us using pesticides and herbicides yet….
Anyway, I hope it is clear why I’m taking supplements and why it can be beneficial for you too.
I want you to know that, as with any product in the marketplace, there is a huge variety of quality.
The main difference is, are your products all-natural, or are there also synthetic ingredients in there? Are there synthetic binders and fillers in your product? Synthetic coloring? Are the nutrients from nutrition-rich soil, or are they from nutrient-depleted soil or ground spoiled by herbicides and pesticides?
Those are all reasons I chose Beyuna as the company I represent as a distributor, knowing we have the best European nutritional products on the marketplace.
